He was a trackman employed by the Conestoga Transportation company.

Was World War veteran.
Cause of death was strangulation by hanging (suicide). Contributing was heart disease. There was an investigation of death.
He was a member of the 316th Infantry Regiment, 79th Division, and served overseas.

Roy had been despondent over a prolonged heart condition he hung himself in his parents home on 301 North Second Street, Columbia.

     Norman Clark was born on 25 March 1892 at Columbia, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.1,2 He married Mary E Smith, daughter of Henry Smith and Sarah Goodling, in 1917.3 Norman Clark died on 14 April 1939 at Columbia, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, at age 47; Obituary:

Norman Clark, forty-nine, 539 N. Second St., Columbia, died at noon Friday of pneumonia at his home. He had been ill for one week. He was born in Columbia, a son of Alfred and Nancy Clark, of Columbia.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Columbia, the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief Association, the Pennsylvania Railroad Traimen and the Susquehanna Aerie, No. 293 Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was employed as a brakeman by the Pennsylvania Railroad for twenty years.
Besides his wife, Mar, two children, Roy and Bertha, both at home; and a sister Mrs. Clarence Bridges, Columbia.

FUNERAL
CLARK - Entered into rest in Columbia on April 14, 1939, Norman Clark in his fiftieth year. The relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral without further notice fromt the late home, 539 N. Second St., Columbia, on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Laurel Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the home from 7 to 9 o'clock Sunday evening.
