The funeral of Thomas Williams took place to-day at the Nickel Mine Episcopal church, in Bart township, this morning. He died on Thursday, aged 75 years. He was born in England in the same town that the late Captain Doble, who died several weeks ago, came from. The two men were raised at the same place and came to America together. Both were employed at the nickel mines for more than thirty years, and Mr. Williams was an underground boss up to the time that the mines suspended operations. He was one of the founders of the Episcopal church.

M. Robert Myers, 75, of Strasburg, died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease February 3, 2011.
Born in Hessdale, PA, March 6, 1935 he was the son of the late Martin G. and Mary (Pleger) Myers.


Bob was a construction worker and equipment operator since age 16. He worked for Andrews Excavating, ATCO Construction Company and Balfour Beatty where he operated a crane, helping to construct bridges during the Route 30 project in the late ‘90’s.
He enjoyed boating with his family in earlier years. He loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren.
Bob served as a Strasburg Boro council member for several terms. Also he served on the Strasburg Boro Authority, chairing that committee from 1977-1999.


Bob is survived by his loving wife Rita (Rineer) Myers, who cared for him at home. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this June. Four daughters: Barbara A., wife of Norman J. Karmilowicz, Strasburg; Mary Ellen, wife of John Hogarth, New Providence; Carol, wife of Eric Di Obilda, Lancaster; and Julie, wife of Kirk Reiner, Pequea, 6 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. 1 great-granddaughter arriving in late May. Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Eshleman.


A viewing will be on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 2 until 4 PM in the Bachman Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA. There will be a viewing on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 9 until 10 AM. The funeral is at 10 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Lefever officiating. Interment is in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125., or the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.1
