     Merrill Lynwood Hassel was born on 15 April 1917 at Quarryville, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.2,1 He married Margaret Jane Homsher, daughter of Frederick Lloyd Homsher and Mary Elizabeth Bryson, on 7 October 1944 at Bristol, Pennsylvania.1 Merrill Lynwood Hassel died on 15 August 1972 at Effingham, Illinois, at age 55; died while on a trip.3 He was buried on 18 August 1972 at Strasburg Mennonite Cemtery, Strasburg, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.3
