     He began military service on 1 March 1777 at Essex, New Jersey, as a private, served at various times 12 months and 3 weeks. Engaged in Woodbridge, Burning of Springfield, Connecticut Farms.3,4 He witnessed Pastor of his church, Aaron Richards, Rahway Church of Christ recommended him for pension on 30 March 1785.2 He witnessed Letter signed by Brown Brookfield stating his appeal for pension, listing each person who sent letters to pension board to secure his pension. His signature is at bottom of letter. on 11 July 1837.5 He lived on 4 September 1837 at Long Hill, Morris, New Jersey.5 He witnessed Letter stating approval for pension and payment of backpay for 54 years, 8 months. on 25 February 1839.5 He witnessed Letter about pension not being approved yet and discussion of its progress thru channels. on 3 April 1839.5 He witnessed Letter advising pension board of death of Brown Brookfield and stating his wife is in extreme poverty and her friends are asking for money for her. on 28 April 1845.5
