Elizabeth L. Rutter, 91, of 1232 East Earl Rd., East Earl, died Saturday evening at the Essa Flory Hospice Center following a several week illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel B. Rutter in 2001. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Barton and Amanda (Baxter) Laukhuff. She retired in 1980 from the East Earl Post Office where she had worked for 30 years, the last nine as the Postmaster. A member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, she was also past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blue Ball Fire Company. She also crocheted lap robes for nursing homes. Surviving is a son, Robert married to Gladys (Gregg) Rutter, East Earl, and a daughter, Betty Jane Rathman, Paradise; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Laukhuff, Blue Ball. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Frank and four brothers: Lloyd Laukhuff, Charles Laukhuff, Paul Laukhuff, and Lester Laukhuff. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Ranck's United Methodist Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.      Aaron S Esh was born on 13 November 1932. He married Gladys Arlene Swinehart circa 1956.2 Aaron S Esh died on 2 July 2017 at Calvary Homes, Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, at age 84. Born in 1932, he was the son of Jonathan Fisher Esh and Salomie Smoker Esh. Aaron is survived by his wife, Gladys Swinehart Esh to whom he was married for 61 years. He is also survived by three children, Wanda, married to Brian Gregg, Carl Esh married to Patti, David Esh married to Pam; 6 grandchildren Andrea, Brandi, Nate, Erin, Zachary and Jana Beth; 11 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Aaron was preceded in death by 6 siblings Daniel S. Esh, Barbara Fisher, Arie S. Lapp, Amos S. Esh, Mary S. Fisher, and Jonas S. Esh. He is survived by two sisters Annie Lapp, Ronks and Sadie Fisher, Gordonville. He is also survived by his loyal friend, Les Miller.
Aaron was born and raised in the Old Order Amish Faith. At age 21 he enlisted in the Army where he served 3 years in Korea fighting for our country, part of which was spent assigned to the 3rd Infantry Brigade. He was self-employed for most of his career and later retired from Red Rose Transit in 1996, after 16 years of service.
He was a member of Faith Church in Lancaster and attended church services at Calvary Homes. He held many volunteer positions over his lifetime, including volunteering for Gordonville Fire and Ambulance Association, Salvation Army, and Calvary Homes. He was a founding member of the Alley Oop Hunting Camp in Lycoming County. He loved dogs and enjoyed “dogsitting” for friends, family and residents of Calvary Homes. He also enjoyed carving and was a member of the York carving club. He was a man of great faith and cared very much for his family and country.
A celebration of Aaron’s life will take place 2 PM, Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Fellowship Hall at Calvary Fellowship Homes, with Chaplain Kevin M. Brown, Sr. officiating. Aaron’s family will greet friends immediately following the celebration. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Fellowship Homes Benevolent Fund, 502 Elizabeth Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601 or to Caring Hospice Services, 101 Good Dr., Lancaster, 17603.

     Virginia May Brown was born circa 1931 at Paradise Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.1 She married George Ellis Groff Sr in 1950.1 Virginia May Groff died on 28 October 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Virginia M. Groff, 88, of Paradise Twp., passed away Monday, October 28, 2019, at Lancaster General Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Paradise Twp., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Rhea and S. Elizabeth (Porter) Brown. Virginia shared 65 years of marriage with her husband George E. Groff before he died in 2015.

She graduated from Paradise High School in 1942. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Virginia worked as a waitress at the former Dutch Town & Country Inn, Paradise, then she managed The Bay Window gift and sub shop in Vintage and lastly as a cafeteria lady and custodian for Pequea Valley School District

Virginia was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She always cared for others and enjoyed her family, especially when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited. Virginia enjoyed embroidery and sewing, and cheering for Penn State, the Phillies and the Steelers.

Surviving Virginia are her five children, George E. Groff, Jr., husband of Linda (Feister) of Carlisle, Gary L. Groff, husband of Beth (Book) of Willow Street, Bonnie L. (Groff) Wanner, wife of the late C. Allen Wanner of Gap, Gerald F. Groff of Lancaster and Dennis R. Groff, husband of Sondra (Gregg) of Paradise; and her 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her sister Doris Hatz preceded Virginia in death.

Virginia’s family will receive friends for 10-11 AM, followed by a celebration of her life at 11 AM with Rev. Eugene Errickson officiating, on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 3001 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA 17652. Private interment in the adjoining cemetery.
