Timothy W. Stauffer, 18, a Pequea Valley High School senior, was killed Friday afternoon when a dueling pistol that was reportedly used earlier that day in a high school class skit went off as it was being handled by its 15-year-old owner.

Stauffer, a Paradise resident, died about 3:30 p.m. at Lancaster General Hospital after he was shot in the driveway of a classmate's home in Upper Leacock Township, state police said.

An autopsy was performed Saturday morning.

Surviving besides his wife and mother are 4 children: Sharon Herr of Paradise, Michael husband of Michelle Stauffer of Lancaster, Kevin husband of Donna Stauffer of Manheim, Karen Stauffer of Paradise, 3 step children: Michael husband of Monica Vok of Ohio, Mark husband of Jacqui Vok of Maryland, Dawn Marie wife of Dietmar Tannheiser of Virginia, 10 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 5 siblings: Frank husband of Janis Stauffer of Leola, Evelyn wife of Earl Denlinger of Lancaster, Galen Stauffer of Delaware, Richard Stauffer of Nottingham and Toye Kauffman of Quarryville. He was preceded in death by three children: Tina, Faye, Timothy Stauffer and a brother: Robert Stauffer.

He enjoyed reading his Bible, having devotions and taking evening walks with his wife, playing guitar to gospel music. His love for the Lord was shown by placing a tract in all the locations he visited. He had a burning desire for souls to be saved. Philippians 1:21: For to me to live in Christ, and to die is gain.

Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA on Saturday, July 17th at 2 p.m. with the Pastor Sam Furches and Pastor Jim Roland officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Monument Cemetery, Paradise. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
