Born in Pequea Township, he was a son of the late Lester M. Sr. and Elizabeth Mae Byers Henry.
A farmer most of his life, he also worked as a laborer for the former E.C. Witmer Masonry Contractor of Strasburg, retiring in 1983.
Surviving are three sons, David L. of New Providence, Charles R., husband of Betty Jane of Quarryville, and Donald L. of Willow Street; and four daughters, Mary E., wife of Howard E. Reese of New Providence, Helen M., wife of Ernest J. Scott of Quarryville, Doris L., wife of Roy F. Smeltz of Holtwood, and Nancy J., wife of Glenn D. Myers of Kirkwood; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In the past Lester was a farmer, school bus driver for Pequea Valley School District, clerk at Vintage Sales Stables and the Lancaster Stockyards, owner/operator of a cattle truck and he retired from the United States Post Office where he was a mail carrier in the Paradise area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating on the Chesapeake, traveling to 49 of the 50 United States. He had a great love for and interest in horses.
Surviving besides his wife is a daughter: Brenda K. wife of Gerald L. Brackbill of Paradise, 2 grandchildren, Devon & Nickie Brackbill. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings.
A memorial service will take place from the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 South Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA, on Friday, August 7th at 11 a.m. with a time to greet the family following the service.
