Roy A. Kimes, Sr., 64, of 215 Meadow dr., Downingtown, died this morning in Chester County Hospital, West Chester, following a prolonged illness. He was the husband of Icie Aliff Kimes.

Born in Christiana, RD 1, he was a son of the late Clarence and Mabel Taylor Kimes and had lived in the Downingtown area most of his life.

Mr. Kimes (was)in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter, retiring for health reasons. He attended East Brandywine Baptist Church and belonged to the carpenter's union.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Macie Elizabeth Tolley of Glenmoore; two sons, Roy A. Jr. of Guthriesville and Patrick M. of Downingtown, and six grandchildren.
