Born in Karns City, PA, she was a daughter of the late George T. and Margaret (Brown) Hays. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia L. Hays.

Barbara graduated from Fairview-Township Karns City High School in 1949, earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1953, and completed graduate study in dietetics at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

She worked as the dietician of Armstrong County (PA) Memorial Hospital, and for twelve years as the dietician at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, PA. She also worked in the family business, Denison’s Greenhouses. She was very active in C. C. Hancock United Methodist Church, Springfield.

Barbara enjoyed her grandchildren, RVing and travel, cooking, and playing the piano.

She is survived by two children, William G Denison, Springfield, and Judith D. Proffitt (David), Spring City; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 with Paul Trimble officiating. Interment will be held at Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike Glen Mills, PA 19342. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10-11 AM at the Chapel, address above.

     George R Denison III married Barbara Hays, daughter of George T Hays and Margaret G Brown.¹ George R Denison III was born in 1930 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.¹ He died on 30 September 2014 at Garden Spot Village, New Holland, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George R. Denison, Jr. and Eva (Button) Denison.

George graduated from Springfield High School in 1947 and received a B. S. in Horticulture from Penn State University in 1952. From 1952 to 1955, he served in the U. S. Army.

From the 1940’s until his retirement in 1988, he was self-employed as a greenhouse operator/florist known as Denison’s Greenhouses.

He was past president of the Springfield Rotary Club and was a member for 35 years and was also a member and boating instructor in U. S. Power Squadrons. He enjoyed RV’ing and travel, boating, gardening, woodworking, fishing, and photography.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: William G. Denison, Springfield and Judith D. Proffitt (David), Spring City; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 10 a.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 with Dr. Mark Allison officiating. Interment will be in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills. A viewing will be held at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland on Friday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and at the Garden Spot Village
