He was the widower of the late Thelma M. Ranck, who passed away in 2006 after they had shared 56 years of marriage together.
Born in Honey Brook, he was the son of the late Chester A. and Anna Styer Ranck.
A resident of Parkesburg since 1968, Jake was a member of both the American Legion in Parkesburg and Christiana. He was a member of the Pomeroy United Methodist Church.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 10 years during the Korean War and peace time, serving on the USS Coral Sea in 1949 as a plank owner the USS Gilbert Islands in 1953, and the USS Valley Forge in 1954; and in the Air Force for an additional 10 years, serving in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1965 retiring in 1967.
He is survived by five children: Linda wife of Henry Seal of Parkesburg, Catherine, wife of Anthony Carr of Shreveport, La., Tina, wife of John Sager of Phoenixville and Judy, wife of John DiSante of Honey Brook; and one son, Lester L. Ranck Jr. of Sadsburyville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Anna Romaine Summers of Honey Brook and A. Claire Ranck of Strasburg.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Seal; a nephew, Danny Dawson; and a step-granddaughter, Rachael Carr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg.

Law, age 72 of Ronks, PA entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 after a courageously fought battle with cancer. She was the wife of Thomas L. Law with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage on August 29th of last year. She was born in Gap, daughter of the late John E. & Myrtle Summers Ranck. She was a member of Limeville United Methodist Church of Gap and attended New Providence Church of God.

Joanne worked at several area garment factories and had also worked for her daughter Debbie at Country Gardens Restaurant of Parkesburg. She belonged to a quilting club in Sebring, FL. She loved sewing, traveling and spending the winters in Sebring, FL and her summers in Sea Isle City, N.J.

Surviving besides her husband are two children: Deborah S. wife of Michael V. Fisher of Gap, Thomas E. husband of Vivien Trostle Law of New Providence, 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Aftan and Lauren Fisher all of Gap, Weslea, Drew and Zane Law all of New Providence, two sisters: Elaine wife of Richard Graybeal of Gap, Lorretta wife of Roy 'Tiny' Jones of Gap.

Services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Cemetery of Blue Ball.
