First page of William Murray's Civil war Declaration for an invalid Pension. This states that on the 12th day of Jul 1864 at Fort Stevens, Washington DC he was struck by a minnie bullet on the forefinger of his right hand, making amputation of that finger necessary which was accordingly done the say day causing total loss of said finger which rendered declarant unfit for military duty being retained in service as Cook and renders him less qualified to perform ordinary labor of all kinds.
Also states declarant resided at Kinzers, county of Lancaster, St of Pennsylvania and since leaving service his occupation is a farmer. Form is signed by William Murray's mark and witnessed by J. B. Good and J. B. Lichty.
