A native of Los Angeles, California, Bryson served as the Mayor of Los Angeles from December 10, 1888, until February 25, 1889. He was also a noted contractor, banker, builder, and carpenter. The Bryson Building located in Los Angeles, California, was built by him. He died in 1907, and was buried in the family crypt.      Jesse Bryson was born on 3 May 1837 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.2,3 He married Anna Elizabeth Hagen in 1855 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.2,3,4 Jesse Bryson died on 12 August 1912 at Indianola, Warren County, Iowa.3 He was buried on 15 August 1912 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Warren, Iowa.5
     He and Anna Elizabeth Bryson appeared on the census of 25 July 1860 at Iowa City Township, Johnson, Iowa.6 Jesse Bryson was a Miller in August 1870 at Indianola, Iowa.1,2 He lived in August 1870 at Indianola, Iowa.2 He and Anna Elizabeth Hagen appeared on the census of August 1870 at Indianola, Warren, Iowa; Census states he owned real estate valued at $7500 and personal property valued at $1600.2 Jesse Bryson was Mayor for a time. at Menlo, Iowa.7 He was operating a Flour Mill which his sons worked also. on 7 July 1880 at Indianola, Warren, Iowa.8 He and Anna Elizabeth Hagen appeared on the census of 7 July 1880 at Indianola, Warren, Iowa.8 Jesse Bryson witnessed I found this on USGENWEBBryson, Jesse Proprietor of the Novelty Mills, was born in Lancaster county, Penn May 3, 1837, and was raised there in the milling business, he came to Muscatine, Iowa and lived there one year, and in 1856 settled in IOwa City and lived there until 1869, when he removed to this city, in 1876 he built the above named mills at a cost, including ground, of $15,000, it is fitted up with the latest improved machinery, and the demand for his flour often necessitates the running of his mills day and night. He married Miss Eliza Hagens in 1855. She was born in Lancaster county, Penn. They have six children Frankie, now Mrs Shepherd, Charles L, Millie, Harry, Joie and Jessie.      Margaret Patton was born on 22 October 1827 at Salisbury Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.1 She married William Myers Bryson, son of Jesse Bryson and Margaret Myers, on 17 October 1850 at Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.1 Margaret Patton died on 31 December 1894 at age 67.1 She was buried on 4 January 1895 at Ranck's UM Church, New Holland, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.2
     She appeared on the census of 21 August 1850 at Salisbury Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.3 As of 17 October 1850,her married name was Bryson.1 She and William Myers Bryson appeared on the census of 23 June 1860 at Salisbury Township, Gap Post Office, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.4 Margaret Patton and William Myers Bryson appeared on the census of 26 July 1870 at Salisbury Township, Gap Post Office, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; The name listed on census appears to be H. Linton age 9 (born circa 1861) and is listed as being blind. This may be Jesse who was blind according to his father's biography.5 Margaret Bryson and William Myers Bryson appeared on the census of 22 June 1880 at Salisbury Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.6
