Wise, 89, died Sunday morning, January 25, 2004, at Conestoga View, Lancaster, PA, following a long illness. Formerly of 31 Cherry Hill Road, Ronks, PA, and prior to that a resident of Kinzers, PA, she lived at Conestoga View since June of 1999. Born in Paradise Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late N. Landis and Lizzie Dunlap Miller.

Ida worked as a seamstress at various local sewing factories. She was previously a member of the former Asbury Community Church in Gap, PA. Ida enjoyed doing embroidery, quilting, walking and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She was previously active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kinzer Fire Company.

Ida's husband, the late Levi N. "Bud" Wise, died March 3, 1988.

She is survived a daughter, Sherlyn A. married to Robert B. Gregg, of Ronks, PA, a son, The Reverend Keith B. married to Jean Royer Wise, of Rupert, ID, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and a sister, Harriet K. Snyder, of Lancaster, PA. Ida was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lydia Rapp, Myrtle Rapp and Ella Ulmer, and 2 brothers, Walter Miller and Lewis Miller.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Brown Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA, on Saturday, FEBRUARY 7, 2004, at 1:00 PM, with The Reverend Frank A. Nickel officiating.

Elizabeth L. Rutter, 91, of 1232 East Earl Rd., East Earl, died Saturday evening at the Essa Flory Hospice Center following a several week illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel B. Rutter in 2001. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Barton and Amanda (Baxter) Laukhuff. She retired in 1980 from the East Earl Post Office where she had worked for 30 years, the last nine as the Postmaster. A member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, she was also past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blue Ball Fire Company. She also crocheted lap robes for nursing homes. Surviving is a son, Robert married to Gladys (Gregg) Rutter, East Earl, and a daughter, Betty Jane Rathman, Paradise; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Laukhuff, Blue Ball. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Frank and four brothers: Lloyd Laukhuff, Charles Laukhuff, Paul Laukhuff, and Lester Laukhuff. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Ranck's United Methodist Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Born in 1932, he was the son of Jonathan Fisher Esh and Salomie Smoker Esh. Aaron is survived by his wife, Gladys Swinehart Esh to whom he was married for 61 years. He is also survived by three children, Wanda, married to Brian Gregg, Carl Esh married to Patti, David Esh married to Pam; 6 grandchildren Andrea, Brandi, Nate, Erin, Zachary and Jana Beth; 11 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Aaron was preceded in death by 6 siblings Daniel S. Esh, Barbara Fisher, Arie S. Lapp, Amos S. Esh, Mary S. Fisher, and Jonas S. Esh. He is survived by two sisters Annie Lapp, Ronks and Sadie Fisher, Gordonville. He is also survived by his loyal friend, Les Miller.
Aaron was born and raised in the Old Order Amish Faith. At age 21 he enlisted in the Army where he served 3 years in Korea fighting for our country, part of which was spent assigned to the 3rd Infantry Brigade. He was self-employed for most of his career and later retired from Red Rose Transit in 1996, after 16 years of service.
He was a member of Faith Church in Lancaster and attended church services at Calvary Homes. He held many volunteer positions over his lifetime, including volunteering for Gordonville Fire and Ambulance Association, Salvation Army, and Calvary Homes. He was a founding member of the Alley Oop Hunting Camp in Lycoming County. He loved dogs and enjoyed “dogsitting” for friends, family and residents of Calvary Homes. He also enjoyed carving and was a member of the York carving club. He was a man of great faith and cared very much for his family and country.
A celebration of Aaron’s life will take place 2 PM, Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Fellowship Hall at Calvary Fellowship Homes, with Chaplain Kevin M. Brown, Sr. officiating. Aaron’s family will greet friends immediately following the celebration. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Fellowship Homes Benevolent Fund, 502 Elizabeth Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601 or to Caring Hospice Services, 101 Good Dr., Lancaster, 17603.
