George F. "Pappy" Gregg, 72, of Paradise, died at Ephrata Community Hospital on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006.
He was born in Paradise to the late George Duffield and Gladys E. Milley Gregg.
He had worked at Paradise Supply and retired from McDonalds in Gap. A member of St. Johns U. M. Church and Paradise Leaman Place Fire Co., he enjoyed fishing and baseball.
Surviving are his companion, Nancy J. Rosenberry, Paradise; daughter, Bonnie L., wife of Benjamin L. Summers, Lancaster; sons, Carlton R., husband of Debra Bollinger Gregg, Paradise and David G. Gregg, New Holland; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Theodore, Robert and Harold Gregg; and sisters Esther Keanegy, Myrtle Kellenberger and Ann Hartman. His brothers Harry and Paul and sister Lorraine Summers preceded Pappy in death.

     Milton Ellsworth Gregg was born in May 1865. He died on 13 August 1903; killed in train accident at Witmer, PA. George Duffield Gregg was age 17 at time of accident.1,2 He was buried on 15 August 1903 at Nickel Mines Mission, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.1
     He appeared on the census of 15 July 1870 at Kinzers, Paradise Twp., Lancaster.3 He appeared on the census of 21 June 1880 at Paradise Twp, Lancaster.4 He was listed as a laborer in Lancaster County directory. in 1890 at Nickel Mines, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.5 He lived in 1898 at Bellmonte, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.6 He appeared on the census of 6 June 1900 at Paradise Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.7 A note I copied at St James church on April 26, 1989 states Entries for Grace Episcopal Church at Nickel Mines are entered in Book 3-8172, vol 4. These volumes have been copied and are currently found at Lancaster Historical Society, Lancaster, PA. Grace Episcopal is the original name of this church and cemetery.
A second note states records from Gap Mining Company are in the recorders office of the Lancaster Co Court house. 8-5-72 A date of July 26, 1857 is with this note.
