     John Anderson Brookfield was born circa 1792 at Rahway, Union, New Jersey.1 He died on 2 October 1815 at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Note: He served in the War of 1812 in an American privateer and was captured by the British and kept prisoner until the end of hostilities. He later became captain of a merchant vessel, PLANET, engaged in the coastal trade abetween New York and the West Indies. He was supposed to have been lost at sea off Cape Hatteras before the outbreak of the Civil War.1 He married Jane Butler on 28 February 1833 at New Bern, Craven, North Carolina.2,3 John Anderson Brookfield died in March 1854 at North Carolina. Sea Captain John Anderson Brookfield perished when his schooner, "The Planet" went down off the coast of North Carolina near Cape Hatteras. He was a 1/3 owner with Edward R. Stanly of New Bern, North Carolina owning the balance.

His wife was Jane Butler of North Carolina. She passed away during the New Bern Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1864.

Mr. Houck lived in the area all his life. He was last employed as a truck driver for Halls Paving retiring in 1993.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by one daughter Sandra L. Houck of Gap, one granddaughter Debra A. Houck of Coatesville and two great grandsons Charles E. Hicks and Carl P. Dessenberger. He was preceded in death by four siblings; Norman Houck, Elsie Hoffman, Mary Strock and Ellen Leoni.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 1pm at the Terre Hill Methodist Cemetery, 105 W Main St., Terre Hill, PA.2 He was buried on 16 February 2013 at Terre Hill Cemetery, Terre Hill, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.2
