     Russel Joseph Yoder was born on 9 March 1917 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania.3,4,5,6 He married Ruth Vera Martin, daughter of William E Martin and Elizabeth B Kissinger, circa 1937.1 Russel Joseph Yoder died on 8 December 1944 at West bank of Rur River, Julich, Germany, at age 27; S/Sgt. Yoder was killed in action Dec 8, in Germany, according to work received by his wife last week. She had previously been informed that he was missing on that date. A native of Lancaster, where his parents and wife now reside,he had twice been wounded previously. An Infantryman, Yoder had served in England, France and Germany. He went into action sometime in August, was wounded first on Sept 7th and later on Oct 14. The first time he was out of action three days, the second time five days. He was inducted from York in Feburay 1944, while an employee of the T. R. Taylor and Company and trained at Camp Wheeler, Ga. He went overseas the last of July. Russel Joseph Yoder was an employee of the T. R. Sgt Russel J Yoder enlisted in Harrisburg, PA on Jan 28, 1944. He joined his unit from Replacement Depot on 15 August 1944 and was promoted to Private First Class on Sept 4, 1944 and to Sergeant on Nov 1, 1944. He completed 2 years of high school and was married. The 29th infantry division was known as the 'Blue and Gray' Division.3,8 He ended military service on 8 December 1944 at Germany; was killed while serving with the 29th Division. 115th Infantry Army Serial Number was 33875360.3

Bob enjoyed volunteering his time in the pharmacy of Lancaster General Hospital. He loved going to the Community Market and Root’s, and spending time at the Jersey shore with his family. He was an avid coin collector.

He is survived by a son, Jeffrey Robert Kaufhold of Hummelstown; a daughter, Jana Keck and her husband Bill of Lancaster; and four grandchildren: Zachary and Hannah Kaufhold and Alec and Michelle Keck. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Robert Kaufhold, and a brother, Harry Kaufhold.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA with Pastor Mark Thiboldeaux officiating. Burial will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM. Please omit flowers. Lancaster Man Will Be Charged With Improper Passing Sunday
.Damage to the extent of several hundred dollars resulted Sunday morning at 11 o'clock when cars driven by Dr. M. N. Harris. Cashtown. and David Musketnuss. Lancaster, crashed near the crest of highway west of here. No one was injured.Musketnuss was following a sedan driven by Lewis Gaiter, of Chicago, going west on Newman's hill and was in the act of passing Gaiter when Dr. Harris, driving east, appeared over the crest of the hill. In order to avoid a crash Dr. Harris drove his car off the highway on the right side of the road, opposite the O'Brien filling station, but was unable to prevent the Musketnuss car crashing into his machine. Both cars were traveling with lights on due to a heavy fog. Dr. Harris' car was towed to the D. S. Mickley garage. Cashtown, where it was estimated damage would total at least S150. The left side of the car was smashed. Other damage included a crushed running board and fender, twisted
axle and broken wheel. A smashed radiator, broken lights, a crushed fender and two tires which blew
out due to the impact of the crash were included in the damages to the car driven by Musketnuss. Damage was estimated at more than $100.
Patrol man F. L Mayers of the state highway patrol investigated the accident and stated that a charge of improper passing would be laid against Mustketnuss before Justice of the Peace Clyde L. Shultz, Cashtown.
